Faces2Hearts in Jamaica: Exploring EU Art and Infrastructure initiatives in Kingston!

08 / 02 / 20

Hello from Kingston, Jamaica, and the first in our #Faces2Hearts Jamaica series!

The Poverty Reduction Programme helps provide funds for various projects in Jamaica, including arts and community initiatives and educational and infrastructural projects, all of which empower Jamaican people to be more self-sufficient. In this video we’ll show you two of those projects, and take you on an art tour of Downtown Kingston.

A recently signed agreement between the European Union in Jamaica and Kingston Creative is going to provide funds to bring more art walks and open-air festivals to Kingston and St Andrew, and we heard from Andrea and Nattalie (kingstoncreative.org) and Colleen (Women Empowering Women) about what to expect next, and the positive impact these events have on the community.

Our second stop was to see how the Poverty Reduction Programme, working alongside Jamaica Social Investment Fund, had provided four classrooms, two bathrooms, and a play area at a local school. Two fantastic focuses which highlight the diversity of the Poverty Reduction Programme!
